New Zealander Nick Cassidy has secured the Japanese Formula 3 title in dominant form from his nearest rival and teammate Kenta Yamashita. Winning both races at the Sportland Sugo Circuit from pole and setting the fastest lap in both races, Cassidy’s performance throughout the season has been impressive.
Post race arbitration early in the season presented Cassidy with a large points deficit to over come. Since then the Aucklander has produced a string on consistently high scoring results and going in to the final race weekend had already matched Yamashita for race wins.
In between Japanese Formula 3 rounds Cassidy has competed in two FIA European F3 rounds with Prema Powerteam where he qualified in to top 3 of the 6 races he contested and secured two podiums in the highly competitive 36 car strong field. Testing duties with BMW motorsport in the new M6 GT3 have also kept him busy.
Having known Nick since his early days in the New Zealand Formula First Championship, the Motorsport Media team pass on their congratulations for an outstanding season and a deserved title.
